But guess what?
If you continue to deliver the same old marketing messages, your prospects will become weary of hearing them. They’ve heard it all before. They’ll simply scroll past it or click away if they see it. To gain their attention, you must come up with something new and intriguing.
Getting a Glimpse Inside Your Prospect’s Mind
Many marketers make the mistake of trying to separate themselves from their competitors.
They look for ways that their offer is BETTER.
It’s critical to provide something better than what already exists on the market. However, you must also ensure that people are aware of it. People can’t simply be expected to know that your product or service is the finest.
If you want to grab attention, then you need to do something DIFFERENT.

Because here’s the thing…
Your clients are busy people. They’re getting a lot of marketing pitches. And they have several other things on their minds…
They are thinking about work. They are wondering if they need eggs from the store. They are thinking about what to pack in the kids’ lunches tomorrow.
They’re thinking about their schoolwork, the condition of the vehicle’s oil level, and that strange mole on their back or how to repair relationships with the neighbor. They’re also concerned about the state of the rainforests and why one sock always disappears in the dryer.
Folks can only remember so much. If you show them something they’ve seen a million times before, they’re going to stop paying attention.
When consumers buy a home, they are searching for something different. Something better may be a possibility, or it may not. That is why focusing on being unique is so crucial.
Because guess what?
When your prospect is preoccupied, they lose interest in what you’re saying. They search for patterns that they are familiar with. When they discover a pattern, they save everything you’ve said for future reference in their memory.
If they see something that looks like an advertisement, though, they could store it in the “marketing/advertising” folder in their mind.
If something has the same feel as a commercial, it’s an ad. People will ignore you if you label anything as advertising.
“Oh, I’ve seen this before.”
“Oh, junk mail.”
“Oh… an ad.”
Ignore, mute, toss, leave, delete… ignore. When your prospect is in autopilot mode and notices a marketing “pattern,” this is what occurs.
To market self publishing offers, you want to get your prospects’ attention and get them to buy your product, you need to create a pattern interruption. This means putting a marketing message in front of your prospects that is different from all the other ads they see.
People need to take specific actions after seeing your landing page, video, or other promotion.
“Hey, what’s this?”
“OK, this looks compelling…”
“Wow, I need to know more…”
“Whoa, that’s something different…”
When you do something unique, you get something very valuable: the time and attention of your prospect.
You don’t have much time, but you may still make a positive first impression on your prospect.
Consider marketing to be a magnet. You will attract your prospects if you have the correct message and hook. It’s like putting two magnets together with opposite poles facing each other. They are drawn to one another as though by a strong force.
If you display something that someone has already seen, it is similar to putting two magnets together. They will push away from you since it is the same thing. If someone wants to visit your rival, they will because they are anxious to escape your clutches. Don’t let that happen. For more on overcoming your competition, go HERE
Think about it for a second…
Getting someone’s attention might be like attempting to catch your friend’s attention when you’re both standing on opposing sides of a busy, noisy street.
If you want their attention, a screaming fan is the best method to get it. They may not hear you if you scream. If you yell loud enough and call out their name, they will know it’s for them.
Tell you what…
You must be brave to catch this buddy’s attention. You only have one opportunity to catch his attention before he rounds the bend and vanishes out of sight, so make it count.
So, what would get your friend’s attention?

Do you want to fly high above the crowd with some jet packs?
Yep, that would work. All eyes would turn upwards (and that includes your friend).
You could also try doing something attention-grabbing to get people’s attention, like scaling a nearby building!
If you’re feeling adventurous, you could find a dragon and ride on its back while it shoots fireballs into the air.
I know this is getting more and more ridiculous. Maybe it’s even a little silly.
But you know what?
People who might want to buy your house are not the same as you. You need to use marketing that is interesting and different so it catches their attention.
Your prospects are being bombarded by marketers on that busy street corner all day, every day. Some of those marketers are your direct competitors. Some work in different sectors. But you and every other marketer are all trying to grab the SAME thing…
